Carol Gimbel

Carol Gimbel is a violist, educator, and researcher whose work explores new models for musical participation, learning, and cultural connection. She is the founder of Music in the Barns and the co-creator of Opus Unknown, a laboratory for reimagining musical culture, developed through FLI Lab. Based at NYU's Gallatin School, she works at the intersection of music, systems thinking, and community-building, with projects spanning New York, Nigeria, and beyond.

Carol holds a B.Mus. in Viola Performance from Rice University and an Artist Diploma in Viola Performance from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Sonja Dumas

Sonja Dumas is a multidisciplinary artist, arts consultant, and arts educator who works mainly in Caribbean film, dance, and performance culture. She is a co-founder and co-director of COCO Dance Festival, the largest contemporary dance festival in the English-speaking Caribbean, as well as the founder and artistic director of her own dance company, Continuum Dance Project. An award-winning filmmaker, Sonja has written, directed, and produced several films that speak to the Caribbean experience. She also founded Zum-Zum Museum, an interactive museum highlighting various aspects of Caribbean heritage for children up to 12 years old. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies.
