The Glitch Border Manifesto - Berlin
Driven by a shared vision to explore how artists navigate the complexities of our increasingly digital world, we launched a collaborative initiative with the Institute of Insitute of Visual Communication of the International University of Beirut (BIU), Lebanon. The investigation, "Artists at the Digital Border," culminated in our Glitch Border Manifesto workshop in Berlin, made possible through the generous support of the Cross Culture Program (CCP) of the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA) in Germany.

Our research team brought together a diverse group of global practitioners: Christoffer Horlitz, Ayodamola Tanimowo Okunseinde, Ella Hillström, Joe Elias, and Hassan Choubassi. We gathered insights through a series of semi-public interviews formatted as "Salons," which convened artists from around the world to examine the intricate interplay between physical and virtual realities. These discussions explored how creators navigate virtual borders, the tension between digital technology and physical presence in art, and the tangible effects of geopolitical border crossings on contemporary artistic practice. The project reached its climax in October 2023, when the team gathered at Haus der Statistik in Berlin, Germany, with the central aim of identifying and analyzing the specific barriers that obstruct global creatives.
